The mind is a muscle. It too needs exercise.  Reading is important because it develops the mind. Understanding the written word is the way the mind increases its ability, just as walking increases the ability of the body.

For many income eligible parents participating in Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten and School Readiness Programs supported by the state of Florida, the cost of buying books may be seen as a necessary, but costly, expense that just does not fit into their over-strapped budgets.  Because reading is a progressive skill, books that increase vocabulary or that help with translating words from Spanish to English with fun, yet educational stories, can not only become a child’s most valued possession but their pathway to future success.  Please help those families, who would like to have a “real” book for their child to read or to be read to them, by donating an age appropriate book for a child from 3 to 10 years of age.

Your donated books will be given to Community Coordinated Care for Children (4C-), the administrator for the he Early Learning Coalitions (501(c)(3)) of Orange and Osceola Counties, for distribution to the children enrolled in their Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten and School Readiness programs.

Please send your book(s) in advance to:

Why I Attend Convention

The scientific sessions provide excellent information on advances in my specialty in an environment conducive to discussing special practice issues important for my patients. Spontaneous engagement and discussions with physicians and other healthcare professionals with similar patient demographics further enhances my learning and engagement during the NMA conference.
