The Justice Imperative Part II: Climate & Environmental

Monday, August 5, 2024 | 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM
Hilton: Murray Hill East

Environmental justice is a human rights and public health issue that ensures everyone has the right to live in healthy, safe environments. Minority and vulnerable communities are commonly the target for environmentally hazardous activities. In these communities the impact of the environment on health can be even more pronounced. These neighborhoods often face greater exposure to environmental hazards such as pollution, industrial waste, and contaminated water sources. Limited access to healthcare and resources for mitigating environmental risks further exacerbates the health disparities in these locales. This session will address these inequities and examine policies and actions that promote social and environmental justice.
